- I have this odd experience with my internet logon.
- The logon server is using V4.2bis compression and LAP-M protocol.
- When I logon Trumpet Winsock report connect at 26400/ARQ.
- While 26400 is not bad at all, at times I get the line connected at 21600, 19200
- or so. The strange thing is, there seems to be longer interval between each data
- packet that my computer receive. As a result, the overall file transfer rate can
- be very low. Since my server still has some 14400 modem (about 50%). I can
- compare the speed when I connect at 14400 and, let say, 21600 bps. I found that
- the overall transfer rate can be higher for the 14400 speed connection.
- Moreover, connecting at speed other than 14400 and 21600 is neot stable. Many
- times the call simply disconnected. Is this experience a typical one? Could be
- anything wrong with my PPI V3.4 modem?
